For any non vegetarian, there will be a special crush for prawn recipes. Recipes with prawns are effortless, but the outcome will always be appetizing. This prawn gravy is a fata-fat gravy, yes it consumes your time very less.

1-2 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Ground Pepper and Cumin seeds
As per taste Salt
To grind and Make paste
5-7 pods of Garlic

1 inch Ginger
1 Onion (Big sized)
1 Tomato (medium sized)

1 Green Chilly (optional)
To Saute
1-2 tbsp SesameOil/ Gingelly oil (preferable)
2 tsp Mustard seeds
2 tbsp Curry leaves chopped
To Garnish
1 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
Procedure
- Wash the prawn/shrimp thoroughly.
- Then make the paste of onion, followed by tomato and then ginger-garlic together. Make individual paste.
- Now add some oil, once it is hot add the mustard seeds. After it splutters add the curry leaves.
- Then add the coarsely ground paste of onion, followed by ginger-garlic paste. Saute till the raw smell goes off. Now add the paste of tomato.
- Now add the turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder. Let it boil for 5 minutes.
- Now add the cleaned prawns/ shrimps.
- Allow it to cook for for 5-10 minutes. Once the prawn is cooked, add the ground pepper and cumin seeds. Allow it cook for a minute.
- Turn off the flame.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
The delicious chettinad prawn gravy is ready. Goes well with rice and rasam, idli, etc.
