Ellu Urudai / Sesame Ladoos ( Fireless cooking)

                    Ellu urundai is a simple recipe usually made during Ganesh chaturthi and Krishna jeyanthi in TamilNadu. These ellu urundai are made for poorna kozhukattai in chathuthi celebrations.

                   This sesame seeds are excellent sources of copper, manganese and good sources of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, vitamin B12, etc. The sesame oil / gingelly oil is proved to be more advantageous than Olive oil. Oil Pulling using this sesame oil is one of the beauty treatment , helps in whitening of teeth and has many other health benefits too.

                This ellu urundai recipe is a very simple one as there is no making of jaggery syrup. No fire is needed for making these ladoos.




Prep time 10 mins
Cooking time 15 mins

Ingredients 

1 cup Black Till Seeds ( White Till Seeds can also be used)
3/4 cup Jaggery
1 pinch Cardamom Powder ( optional)
1 tsp Ghee (optional)



Procedure

Start with dry roasting of the till seeds, until the till seeds splutter (you can get a good aroma too). Set it aside for it to cool down. Then grind this to a course powder using a mixer.

Now add the jaggery along with the coursely ground till seeds mixture. Just inch the mixer such that the till sedds and the jaggery are blended well.

Transfer the mixture to a plate and make sesame ladoos just by hand tightening the mixture. If in case you are not able to make the ladoos, just add ghee to the mixture and make the balls.
